There are have been several reports of hail throughout western NC this evening. Some growers have reported over 40 hits on fruit whereas others have so far escaped the damage. When hail damage is this severe, fire blight and fruit rots (bitter rot in particular) are a concern. If you had damage to your fruit or leaves as a result of hail a fungicide application should be applied tomorrow (May 9) morning. Here are some options:
