There is a predicted fire blight (blossom blight) infection event predicted for Monday, March 31 2025. If streptomycin was applied on Friday March 28th, I would still suggest applying on Monday as there is still a very high risk for infection and flowers may still be opening. If you did not get streptomycin on trees with open flowers on or before March 30th (Sunday), I would strongly encourage the 200 ppm rate (1 lb/100 gal Harbour) of streptomycin as an infection event was predicted for this day. Add a surfactant such as Regulaid to the tank. If you apply streptomycin on March 31st, models are are currently suggesting you are covered until the April 3rd (consider applying 100 ppm streptomycin (8 oz/100 gal Harbour) on April 2nd.
Henderson County, NC
The EIP model on NEWA called for a “high” risk of blossom blight infection today, Sunday March 30, 2025. However, for an infection to occur, the EIP should be at or over 100 and today the EIP value was only 43. I think you are safe, but if you applied streptomycin on Friday or yesterday you are looking golden. As long as the forecast stays similar to today, my suggestion would be to hold off spraying strep until April 3rd, and then hit trees with any open flowers with 100 ppm streptomycin (8 oz/100 gal Harbour).
Wilkes County, NC
The EIP model on NEWA called for a “high” risk of blossom blight infection today (March 30, 2025) and for tomorrow (March 31). Given that new flowers are opening, I would suggest making an application of streptomycin (100 ppm; 8 oz/100 gal Harbour) on Monday March 31st. As long as the forecast stays similar to today, my suggestion would then be to apply the same rate of strep again on April 3rd.
Just a note, every situation differs based on location within the county, history of fire blight in the block, etc. Also, weather in western NC can change in an instant. Please feel free to call, text, or email me with any questions!
